NME event

Last week the CF national committee organised an event for us at a local bar, encouraging new members to attend so they could find out a bit more about the CF on a national level. Paul Hayes, whose responsibility on the committee is for Social Action, came along to talk to us about how Wirral West really get noticed for the work we do as we were one of the first branches to organise and to take part in regular Social Action projects. Paul is also a good friend of Wirral West as he is standing for council in the upcoming elections in the nearby Wallasey ward and has helped us out in many past events.

We had several new members attend this event, all having a great time and wanting to get much more involved in what we do. One thing that they all mentioned during the night, was how relaxed the talk about politics was - everyone had a chance to give their opinion and everyone listened to each other. Also, conversation wasn't just about politics, we debate on many things such as what the next social event will be - paintballing or pub crawl.
The NME (national management executive) have been very supportive of our CF, always giving us opportunities to try and reach out further in the community. They also include us in a range projects, ensuring that we have a say in what happens in our national Conservative Future. So thanks again for all the hard work they do, we really do appreciate it.

March Pub Quiz

Last Week, Wirral West CF's team, C.F.U.K, went along to the Ring O' Bells pub in West Kirby for their monthly pub quiz. Our team was bigger than usual with people bringing along their friends and this paid off as we came second place, just losing out to the regular winners (who were much older so therefore knew all of the out of date questions). We won a nice sum of money which managed to buy everyone another drink so next time, even more people have promised to come along. If you would like to join us at one of these quizzes please email us at admin@wirralconservativefuture.co.uk.

Ribble South Dinner

Recently, members from Wirral West CF went along to a dinner being held in Ribble South where the guest speaker was Dr. Liam Fox, Shadow Defence Secretary. The evening began with a free drinks reception where CF members were invited to meet Dr. Fox who was a fantastic speaker and very friendly. Dinner was great as our members were put with some CFs from Lancashire Uni who were a great laugh and plans have been made to try and organise future events with other CF's in nearby areas.

January Pub Quiz

Last night was the pub quiz at the Cottage Loaf and even though it was a day back to work and study for some knackered people, we still had a good time. CFers who have been away at uni came so we all had fun catching up and therefore weren't concentrating as much on the quiz. However our team (C.F.U.K) managed to still win three bottles of wine and we will return next month to try and improve our score.

If you would like any information on joining us at one of these quizzes please contact us at admin@wirralconservativefuture.co.uk and we can give you more details.

CF christmas meal

In mid December Wirral West CF went to a local Greek restaurant for our Christmas Party and a couple of members from Wallasey joined us. There were 11 of us in all and the food was great, the only downside being we paid a great deal of money for the wine, which I am reliably informed closly resembled vinegar.

After the meal we went on to a couple of local bars Eskimo and Jack Rabbit Slims, at the latter there was live music which was excellent; we drank more than we danced and rolled out at closing time. We'd had a good night, there was talk of going on to Liverpool but we chickened out and went home at midnight shattered!

CF victory!

This week some of us went along to the Ring 'O Bells to take part in the pub quiz and to try and do slightly better than last month. Amazingly we won the picture quiz with 2 tie breakers, based on Lizzie's (our Secretary) knowledge of Norwegian victories in the Eurovision Song Contest! We also placed 4th in the main quiz, just missing out on a prize. However, the trophy for winning the picture quiz was a bottle of wine so we were very happy with that and are saving it for our CF christmas meal coming up in a couple of weeks. Below are some photos of our clever CF's who took part in the quiz.
