Schools Debate in Calday Grange

We're always interested in promoting politics amongst young people and want to encourage loads of young people to join in with political activities so recently we helped organise a debate that took place in Calday Grange Grammar School.

Several schools from the Wirral attended and had an opportunity to ask a variety of questions to a fantastic panel made up of Sue Murphy, a Labour councillor from Manchester, Stuart Kelly, leader of the Liberal Democrats on the Wirral, Robert Smith, area chairman for the Green Party and Justine Greening, Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party and Youth Spokesperson.

Each of these parties was invited to bring along items to put on stalls so the young people attending the debate could find out more about each each party and see if they wanted to get involved. It was a great opportunity for young people to see that we can take part and that politics is fun.

A Labour councillor from Manchester???? It's quite sad that none of the local Labour councillors from Labour led Wirral Council could be bothered to turn up to the event. Not even one of the local Labour MPs (there are 4 on the Wirral!) were present. It appears to me that the local Labour party do not care about young people - perhaps not that surprising - afterall it was the Labour party that introduced tuition fees!
